Military History and Memorabilia Collection
The Yeronga RSL maintains a collection of 1,000 military history books and 40 items of memorabilia connected to Australia’s post-Federation military heritage. The collection is maintained by a volunteer group of librarians and keen amateur historians.
We continue to build the collection, especially with items relating to Australian participation in conflicts from the First Gulf War through to the Afghanistan War.
Borrowing of books and items of memorabilia by any person, school or community group is encouraged. Long-term loan of items to other community groups is also available.
We achieve five outcomes by operating and investing in our library and collection:
To promote the preservation of Australian history, culture and military literacy.
To enable students and teachers to utilise military items, uniforms, bugles and trench art as show-and-tell adjuncts to their school projects,
To serve as the focal point of a community hub for people for all ages with an interest in expanding their knowledge of Australian history and military endeavour.
To preserve our library and collection through active management and control required to support lending.
Our collection is available through this catalogue.
